I struggled with my weight at a young age and was never the fit athletic kid…
Kristen’s health and fitness journey began with a career in nursing. As a practical nurse working in home care, she provided wound care and diabetes education, which sparked her interest in helping people become healthier long before she became a personal trainer.
What’s important to know about Kristen is that she was not fit or athletic for most of her life. She was bullied in public school for being chubby, never made the sports teams, and never saw herself as “the fitness type.”
In her early 20s, one of her boyfriends—who was working for GoodLife Fitness—convinced her to try personal training. That’s where she met her trainer, Joe. He wasn’t a bodybuilder; he was passionate about the art of movement. His approach completely changed Kristen’s perspective on exercise and showed her that fitness could be about feeling strong, capable, and connected to your body—not simply about how you look. Inspired by that experience, Kristen went on to become a CanFitPro certified personal trainer herself, determined to help other people discover that same feeling.
Fast-forward 15 years.

After working at GoodLife and as a freelance personal trainer, Kristen had her daughter at 35. Pregnancy was difficult, and she gained 70 pounds. After having her baby, she struggled to lose the weight, she was a single mom, and recognized that she had developed unhealthy habits around food and her body. Instead of looking for another quick fix, Kristen began rebuilding her own approach to health. She pulled out her TRX training straps and began incorporating Pilates-based core work, strength and conditioning, mobility, and yoga into her training.

Over time, she discovered a powerful balance between strength, mobility, stability, and recovery—and a new appreciation for what the body can do as we move into our 40s and beyond.
Today, Kristen is a fitness instructor and personal trainer offering group classes and private training locally. Her approach is rooted in functional movement, progressive strength, mobility, balance, and helping people feel capable in their everyday lives.

She also created The Best Body Reset, a 10-week nutrition and lifestyle program designed to help people improve their relationship with food, support their body and hormones, shift their mindset, and feel empowered to take care of themselves without extreme diets or all-or-nothing thinking.
Kristen’s story is a reminder that you don’t have to be athletic, naturally fit, or have it all figured out to become strong. You simply have to start—and learn how to work with your body, not against it.
